Transitions through Spring... ..& what our bodies may be needing

I've been feeling a lot of the effects of my allergies lately, because everything in the neighborhood is coming into full bloom.

My nose is congested.

🄺

I can't breathe as deeply.

šŸ˜®ā€šŸ’Ø

Things appear just a tad blurry.

😦

While it smells delightful (think star jasmine) and is a vibrant color shock to the system (yellow daffodils, pink tulips, purple irises, white roses) I am still suffering a bit.

I've been cooking a lot more lately... Soups and stews that I can freeze easily for ready-made meals during the week. Ironic, because it's so warm out over here and we are steering straight into a heatwave in Oakland soon.

But I do appreciate the warmth and steam from a hot bowl of veggie-heavy soup. I place my face directly over the boiling pot so I can get temporary relief with my congestion.

It got me thinking šŸ¤”

Soup is one of those forgiving and ensuring things.

It can get better with each day and accept more ingredients to change it up.

My soup this week started as kale and white beans then transformed into spring peas and mixed greens.

A little bit of the last bowl becomes the starting point of the next day's bowl.

We build ourselves off of the previous versions and identities we carried from before.

We surround ourselves with new ideas, new people who give us a different world view.

Books, movies, family, work, friends, the news cycle - all of those things collide with us and enrapture us, continuously shaping our minds, hearts, and bodies.

What are some of your spring time recipes that bring you back to yourself?

What type of transition could you be experiencing right now?
